How to Unsubscribe from Facebook Emails

Facebook sends friend request alerts, posts you missed, group activity, birthday reminders, and security notices. Here are the three ways to make it stop, from slowest to fastest.

Use the unsubscribe link in any Facebook email

Open a recent Facebook email and scroll to the very bottom. Click the small unsubscribe link in the footer, then confirm on the page that opens. In Gmail you can also click the Unsubscribe button next to the sender name at the top of the message.

Good news: Facebook's footer link is dependable and applies to the whole mailing list, not just one campaign.

Senders can take up to 10 business days to process an unsubscribe, so a few more emails may arrive first.

Turn off email in your Facebook settings

Go to Settings & privacy, then Settings, then Notifications, then Email. Choose 'Only notifications about your account, security and privacy' to stop everything except the mail Facebook is required to send.

Tip: Facebook sends from facebookmail.com, not facebook.com, so filters and searches need the right domain.
